The BIOS password is entered at a prompt. This happens before the operating system starts, but only after you have turned on the PC. If you have forgotten the password, you will no longer be able to start your PC. Reset your password to regain access.

How to clear the BIOS password

  1. It is not possible to delete the password, but you can reset the BIOS completely. This also resets the password.
  2. The first option is to reset the jumper.
  3. To do this, disconnect your PC from the power source.
  4. Then press the power button again.
  5. Open the case of the computer.
  6. Make sure to ground yourself before working on the PC.
  7. The reset jumper for the BIOS is located on the mainboard.
  8. Move it by one pin.
  9. Then wait a few seconds, usually up to 30.
  10. Then you can put the jumper back in the position where it was before.
  11. You can now close your PC again and connect it to the power supply.
  12. The computer can now be used again. However, settings that have been made may have to be reset.

  2. Many motherboard manufacturers also include a master password that you can use. You can find this out from the manufacturer.
