The offline function of Google Maps can be a very useful thing, especially when you are abroad without mobile internet. You can still use GPS to navigate without using up any data volume. Before doing this, all you have to do is download the map of the place or region. This will then be available to you for the next 30 days. In the following, we will show you how you can use Google Maps offline on your Android smartphone and iPhone.

Note: A stable internet connection is required for maps to be downloaded. So plan in advance which locations should be available offline and download them in the WLAN.

Quick guide: Use city maps offline

  1. Open Google Maps on your smartphone and tap into the Search field the desired location a.

  4. In the main screen of the app you can use the menu (☰) Open your personal page and under "Offline maps"retrieve the saved maps.

  1. Open the menu in Google Maps (☰) in the upper left corner.
  2. Select the point "Offline maps" out.
  3. Now tap on "Adapted map"to make a cutout.
  4. By Out- You can adjust the map section or zoom in. Finally tap on "Download".
  5. The map section will be downloaded and will be with yours Offline maps.
